M. Edward Waller is senior vice president of Price Asset Management. Mr. Waller is also founder of Manchac Group, a consulting firm to asset management companies, commodity trading advisors and hedge funds. Mr. Waller has been marketing alternative investment products for the past 20 years.
Before joining Manchac Group, Mr. Waller was a principal in Webb Capital Partners, a money management firm in Memphis, Tennessee, from 1994 until he sold his interest in 1998. Mr. Waller previously served as Co-Chairman of Crescent Group. Crescent Group was one of the largest independent introducing brokers in the U.S., with 22 branch offices and assets under management in excess of $200 million. Crescent Group’s clients were financial planners and registered investment advisers.
Prior to becoming Co-Chairman of Crescent Group, Mr. Waller was a Senior Vice President of Refco for 10 years, one of the world’s largest futures firms, with 3,000 employees worldwide and $20 billion in assets. While at Refco, Mr. Waller served in a number of capacities, from being on the floor at the Chicago Mercantile beginning in 1979 until 1981, when he moved to Refco’s investment management division and worked for Charles McVean, one of the three founding partners of Refco, until 1985.
In 1989, Mr. Waller returned to the U.S. and set up a trader development program to fund new traders. From 1986 until 1989, Mr. Waller also was co-editor of the “Futures Strategy Analyst,” a quarterly macroeconomic outlook on the world’s futures and forex markets. In 1993, Mr. Waller became Co-Chairman of Crescent Group. Mr. Waller has been a featured speaker at investment conferences worldwide on the subject of futures as it pertains to modern portfolio theory.
Mr. Waller attended the University of the South, where he majored in History. He did graduate studies in American History at Harvard University.
